- A Liberal Art's degree's uses are not always obvious. Although this may seem to be a flaw, it actually can give a humanities major a great degree of flexibility, especially in a shifty job market.
- Humanities majors are taught to be ethical decision-makers and creative problem-solvers.
- Studying the humanities helps people to improve their communication skills. It is called the humanities because it deals with the way humans interact with one another.

What many people don't realize is that humanities education can be very valuable in a professional sense because it fosters creative and analytical thinking. In the video to the left, Steve Jobs describes how "the marriage of technology and the liberal arts" has led to Apple's innovative success.

According to a study done by Georgetown University in 2012, students who major in the liberal arts in college are only slightly less likely to find work immediately after graduation. 95 out of 100 students with a Health degree found a job quickly after graduating, 93 out of 100 with a Engineering, Business, or Science degree found job immediately after graduating, and 90 out of 100 with a Liberal Arts degree found a job quickly after graduating. Even more striking is that there is some substantial evidence to show that people with Liberal Arts degrees earn more than other majors by their mid-career salary. A 2008 report from payscale.com showed that people with Philosophy degrees earned about $81,000 per year by mid-career compared with other degrees in Biology, Accounting, and Nursing which all made somewhere between $65,000 to $75,000 per year.
This Link shows an interesting graphic about why the Humanities are still relevant in our professional world.

Humanities majors are further benefited by their degree because it reaches beyond the realm of the professional world; many liberal arts majors will benefit indirectly in other areas of their lives as well, such as in familial and personal relationships.
